When Interserve’s project partners on the Construction Management Framework 2: Areas 9 and 10 contract were asked to comment on Interserve’s performance they responded with comments such as “never negative”, “innovative”, “good programme management” and “excellent focus on delivery”.

Awarded by the Highways Agency, this collaborative contract covered concrete repairs on a number of major routes in the West Midlands, Cheshire and Lancashire. These included the M6 and M5 motorways for R117 Wigmore Viaduct, R121 Gravelly Hill, R125 Ray Hall Viaduct, A38 Tame Valley Viaduct, the M6 Bromford Viaduct and the M60 Jct 1 to 2 Concrete Overlay.

Achievements

As well as liaising closely and sharing information with project partners, Interserve distinguished itself by going to great lengths to communicate with local people, forewarn them of future work and explain the reasons for the work. Also notable was the company’s innovation. For instance, its BS1881 accredited on-site concrete cube testing laboratory allows strength results to be generated with minimum waiting time, thus reducing delays on projects.
