Driving value for local communities
Interserve's innovative, ten-year partnership with Ealing Council represents a first for local government. It realises the council's vision for a fresh approach to service delivery through a property services model that operates through a completely integrated team called 'Property Ealing'.
This single delivery structure ensures minimum overlap in roles, reducing operating costs and improving decision making and service quality, with the flexible partnership approach immediately realising a seven per cent saving on the council's previous facilities spend, plus 10 per cent year-on-year savings.
The 210-strong team deliver services to 3,000 staff, 237 council buildings, and over 230,000 square metres of office complexes, listed town halls, libraries, sports and leisure centres, cemeteries and residential and sheltered housing.
Property Ealing focuses on the effective design of the working environment, the creation of maintenance regimes which maximise efficiency over the building's life cycle, and the integration of support services into regular operations so they work seamlessly together. This supports the council to deliver their five key objectives: Making Ealing Safer; Securing Public Services; Securing Jobs and Homes; Delivering Value for Money; Making Ealing Cleaner.
This fixed price, flexible facilities model has been offered to local schools, with one third immediately signing-up to this model. They now benefit from statutory maintenance and compliance and risk transfer across all their assets.
We are also supporting the council's sustainability agenda and have achieved certification with the Carbon Trust and anticipate reducing the carbon footprint by 10 per cent annually. Along with undertaking community regeneration projects to Hanwell Community Centre and Greenford High Street, helping transform and improve the borough for the local community.
